Design Engineering

  • It is the branch of mechanical engineering that deals with the design, analysis, and optimization of an individual part or the combination of parts such that they form a mechanical system.
  • Often the subject which the Design Engineer learns at an entry level consists 

  1. Advance Mathematics.
  2. Material Science & Mechanincal Behaviour of  Materials.
  3. Advance Stress Analysis. 
  4. Analysis & Synthesis of Mechanism.
  5. Advance Mechanical Vibration.
  6. Finite Element Method.
  7. Research Methodology.

Computer Aided Drawing

  • It is the method by which we create technical 2D drawings, 3D models of an 'individual part', or 'the component', or 'assembly of part or component that makes a particular mechanism or machine'  that the manufacturer can understand.
  • In many cases of CAD software now, can now conduct the analysis  & optimization of the part can be conducted. However, the accuracy and ease of conducting analysis can vary from software to software. 
  •  Some of the CAD software used in industry are mentioned below: -

  1. CATIA
  2. SOLIDWORKS
  3. CREO
  4. AUTODESK FUSION 360
  5. NX, etc


Computer Aided Engineering

  • It is the method by which we can conduct the analysis and optimization of a particular part or assembly of parts, taking into consideration the material properties and  under the applied loads & boundary conditions, which represent the real-life conditions the part or assembly is subjected to, using the principles of 'Finite Element Method'
